Problem-Based Learning

PROBLEM-BASED LEARNING

Currently, there is a need to make school look like real life; to help students identify what they already know, what they need to know, and how to get there, with educators supporting and guiding the learning process. Problem-based learning (PBL) is an instructional approach designed to encourage students to conduct research and apply knowledge and skills to solve a problem. The student-centered approach to learning promotes creative thinking, teamwork, problem-solving, and flexibility, which are all important life skills for success in college and on the job.

Through the grant, the YEC offers regional workshops designed as an opportunity for teachers to learn more about how to teach problem-based learning, encourage students to conduct research and how to apply knowledge and skills to solve a problem.
